Grammys 2013

I'll start by saying that I was ecstatic that Mumford and Sons got Album of the Year. I love all of their music. Secondly the group performance of Take a Load off, Annie attributing Levon Helms and others that lost their lives this year, completely blew my mind and gave me chill bumps all over. Also Justin Timberlake and Jay Z were an awesome duo. Now on to the more important part, the red carpet. The Grammys are so fun because musicians tend to be a little more risqué and "out there" with their outfits of choice, which is apparently why there was a dress code this year due to too much cleavage and assage in previous years. Obviously, some people didn't get the memo. Or most likely just didn't care.

BEST

Solange Knowels in Ralph and Russo
I loved everything about this gown, the sparkles, the slit, the color. All of it is amazing. It looks great with her skin tone and obviously doesn't need to be accessorized by anything but those coral studded heels. I also love that she went natural with her hair/make up look. This, by far, is my favorite Grammy red carpet look.

Miranda Lambert in Roberto Cavalli
What can I say, I love navy and I love simple class. And Miranda hit the nail on the head with this one. The plunging neck line shows just the right amount of skin. I would have gone with a less matchy earring but the clutch and bracelet are great. I just wish I could see her shoes.

Rihanna in Azzedine Alaia
Ri Ri definitely surprised me and made it on my best dressed list. Again, the skin showing isn't too over the top and this red is so perfect on her. I adore her new  hair and her red lips definitely compliment the dress. Now, all she needs to do is trim her talons and this look would be perfect.

Taylor Swift in J Mendel
Finally, T Swizzle decided to wear something age-appropriate and not look like a school marm on the red carpet. This Grecian-style dress looks great on her and the plunge is offset by the silver accents. I can say I like her hair better up than down (how she wore it after her opening) but I wish she'd go back to a blonder blonde. I also thought it was a little un-classy for her to call that boy out during her opening but whatevs.

Kelly Osbourne in Paula Ka
As I've said before, I love black gowns on the red carpet. But the fabric and cut outs make this less formal and okay for the Grammys. The gold accessories are to die for. Yellow gold is making its come back and lemme tell ya, I'm diving right in to it. Her simple pulled back hair is great with this look and again, its not showing too  much skin for me.

WORST
Adele in Valentino
This dress is just ten shades of wrong. I know floral is "in" right now but all this print makes her look wider than a school bus. Maybe it would have looked better without the high collar, sleeves, and structured skirt. And what's with the shoes... I think they're actually the exact same material. To give her some credit, her hair and make up is spot on.

Florence Welch in Givenchy
Did she think she was a lizard in a previous life? I mean, sometimes reptile is okay. Like alligator clutches, or snakeskin boots. But this Godzillagown has got. to. go. sister. Even if it didn't look like this, the color alone looks terrible with her hair and skin tone. Not to mention the shoes are way too matchy-matchy.

Jennifer Lopez in Anthony Vaccarello
Remember when I mentioned earlier about people not getting the memo to not show too much skin...this is what I was talking about. Slits are supposed to be sexy, not skanky. I mean, you can almost see her hoo-ha. What you can see is her bra, I mean come on. Not to mention, her hair is terrible. This is how I wear my hair at the gym. Or when I wake up in the morning. Not to an awards show.

2 Chainz in Versace
Usually I just keep it to the women's ensembles since the mens suits/tuxes don't have too much variation. But this get up just  had to be on my list. Was he planning on flying away with that cape? Is he trying to impersonate Zorro? If so he forgot the mask...

UNDECIDED
Katy Perry in Gucci
From the boobs down this dress is an A++. I love the color and the fit. What I don't love is all that cleavage, the floral neck line, and the sleeves. KPerry's make up is fab though. Her hair could use a little work. All in all this look isn't that bad, but I just couldn't bring myself to put it on either list.

BEST GROUP
Little Big Town
Kimberly Schalpman (left) in Maria Lucia Hohan
Karen Fairchild (right) in Dolce and Gabanna
I honestly cant decide which gown I love most. The animal print is so perfect, it's bold without being too loud but the backless feathered gown is so feminine and perfect, with a little bit of sex appeal. Plus her hair is just amazing. Both of theirs. I just can't get over how great these guys looked as a group. I don't know what the men are wearing (partly because I don't care) but the grey color coordination looked great too.

What did you think about the Grammys?
I always love the Grammys.

Did you tune in?
I didn't watch it all this year, but caught up with everything afterward online.

Who was your favorite performer?
Definitely the group performance I mentioned earlier.

Girl we had the same exact thoughts on Grammy attire :) Love it! I didn't see Solange but she looks so good! I want those shoes!

I know right! I have recently become slightly obsessed with studs and she could have probably worn a paper sack and still been best dressed with those shoes alone.
