Whoa. Hey there blogland, long time no see. I would apologize for the little unannounced blogging hiatus, except that I'm not sorry. Not one bit, because it was amazing. You see, I had this week off from school because of the holiday, and I decided I wanted to take off work too. Bonus, Derek was off too and we did a lot of relaxing. Let's recap, shall we:
Thursday:
We met some friends for dinner at Railyard Brewing Co., a fairly new brewery/restaurant in downtown Montgomery. They had several different beers available that they brewed right there in the restaurant, ranging from pilsner (similar to a "light" beer) to APA (Alabama pale ale) to a Scottish dark beer with added liquor. Everyone pretty much got a different type and taste tested everyone else's. I'd have to say my favorite was the "pilsner." Everything else was just too bitter for my taste.
After dinner we headed to see The Heat with Sandra Bullock and Melissa McCarthy. Freakin HILARIOUS. Seriously. If you are looking for a(n almost disturbingly) hilarious movie, choose this one. Separately, those two ladies are awesome and I love them regardless, but together? Phenomenal.
Friday:
Despite Mother Nature giving us the big middle finger, we decided to head up to the lake house to enjoy some relaxing on the pier and to spend some quality time with the boat.
Loving panorama shots at the moment
I'm really glad we chose the lake over the river this weekend, because our pier (1) gave us somewhere to hide out from the rain. We spent most of the day just cruising around (3) and I attempted to wakeboard for a whole hour. I was unsuccessful, and I have the sorest arms in the world to prove it. When we got back we decided to chill (4) for a little while, and we caught some little duckies (5) sleeping on our pier. After we went to dinner we drove across the lake (2) to see the firework show.
Saturday, some of our friends joined us and we spent most of the day cruising on the boat (minus the 3 hour period we were stuck at the marina during a monsoon). But, we made the best of it and ordered pizza and gawked at admired all of the fancy shmancy enormous boats also stuck there.
Sunday it was back to reality for me, with a full 12 hour shift and a few hours of homework before bed. But I didn't hate it, because I was so grateful to be able to spend the holiday off work with my favorite people.
How was your 4th of July weekend?
Link up with Sami and tell us all about it!
