Random Shenanigans

I wish I had something exciting to report on this Monday morning, but this weekend was pretty bland. We did go bowling (our first time ever bowling together) Saturday night, and that was about the extent of our shenanigans. Derek's parents got back yesterday from their three week trip to Canada, so I spent most of the morning tidying up and making sure everything was fine around the house. So instead of a "weekend update" how about just a random, who knows where I'll end up, update?

A few weeks ago I bought a bike on craigslist (and I didn't get kidnapped!) to ride in the triathlon I have coming up. It's kicking my ass, but not as bad as I thought it would. I've been riding about 7.5 miles three times a week, and this week I'm adding in a 2 mile run afterward, since that's what I'll have to do for the triathlon.
I haven't taken a picture, but this is the exact bike I have.

I am really digging the bike more than I thought I would except when I ride for so long I get pretty sore in the you-know-where. So if any of you ladies are bikers and have some tips, it would be really cool if you threw them my way.

In other news, I start school back this week. I'm sooo looking forward to it. The sooner I can start back the sooner I'll be finished but I really did enjoy my looongg break.

I made more tarts last week, but I tried the canned biscuit route and I just want to say, DON'T DO IT. They were good, but they didn't even come close to comparing to the homemade-dough tarts.
Instead of peach, these were apple (use brown sugar instead).

I used to say I wanted a garden, but after housesitting and watering the hundreds (not really but it felt like it) of potted plants around this house, I was completely turned off of it. Maybe it's because they aren't my own plants that I planted and grew? There's no telling but I really didn't enjoy going all over the yard with a watering can.

We've actually made another step toward home ownership. Derek and I have found a house that's pretty much perfect for us, in a good location, and within our price range! I'm making plans to meet with a mortgage originator and the realtor this week. Keep your fingers crossed for us!

That's about all I can come up with folks! Hopefully your weekend was a little more exciting than mine, link up with Sami and share! Happy Monday!

My hubby and I have been casually looking for houses and I'm starting to get that feeling that I don't want to take the next step yet I do cause I have gotten attached to this condo that we have grown out of. Good luck with all the mtgs, that's one of our next steps too!

I've always wanted to do a triathlon, but I'm afraid I would be so tired, so I've been sticking to just running lately. You will have to let me know how it goes!
