But I don't wanna

As I sat down to write this post while simultaneously procrastinating studying for an upcoming test, I started thinking about how much I don't really want to write this post. Not because I don't like to blog, but because my brain is tired from all of the studying I did last night and from my super long day at work (I stayed over an hour late) and I just didn't feel like writing anything. But I'm supposed to.
Which got my little brain to thinking some more... how many times during the day do we do something that we don't really want to do but we do it anyway because we're "supposed" to. I'm not talking about things we're really supposed to do like flushing our number twos or looking both ways before we cross the street, I'm talking about things like putting on makeup and washing my car because society "expects" us to. So in true blogger fashion, here's a nice list:
Brushing/styling my hair
I understand that we are supposed to look presentable when we're out and about in society. Or at work or doing whatever it is we do during the daylight hours. But what part of presentable says that we need to spend 30+ minutes fixing and styling our hair? Why can't I just half ass blow dry it and wear it in a pony every day for the rest of my life? Oh . . . because everyone will think I'm a bum
Putting away laundry
It's not the washing. Not the drying, or the folding that bothers me. It's the part where I have to open all the drawers, take (after I find) all the empty hangers down from my closet, put the clothes on the hanger, hang them up (whew I'm exhausted just typing that), only to take them down again. It really just does not make sense to me. Whoever invented dressers and closets can just go straight to hell.
Having a "spotless" house
There's nothing wrong with having a nice, tidy house. But when I go to someone's house and it looks like no one lives in it, it kind of creeps me out a little. Like, do they have little cleaning fairies lurking in the dark to pick up the crumbs I leave behind? Will the owners flip a lid if I walk on the carpet with shoes? I just don't understand. I want my house to be clean, but I also want it to look like it's inhabited.
Keeping my car clean
Speaking of spotless houses... my car is a completely different story. Not that it's gross or anything, there's just a lot of junk in there. I go to the gym, work, and school pretty  much every day. I've got a lot of crap to lug around, and sometimes it's just easier to leave it in the car than take it in and out every day. Oh and keeping the outside clean. I live in a dusty area and I really just don't feel like washing my car weekly.
Apologizing for senseless things
"Sorry the house is such a mess!" "Sorry the dog is barking!" "Sorry I did a better job than you at work/school/the race!" Just stop. I'm not saying to be rude about anything but what is the point in apologizing for either something you aren't really sorry for, or for something you have no control over. It's like we're supposed to be sorry for breathing other people's air too. Just don't say anything, I'm sure the person your "apologizing" to really doesn't care either.

What are some things you do all the time even though you really don't want to?

I hate fake apologizing. Like I'm not really sorry I don't have what you want to drink or sorry I didn't clean something...it's awful how we all just say "Sorry!" all the time.

I also for some reason hate showering. Like I like it once I'm there, but the whole process of getting ready for it...blahhhhh.

Speaking of spotless houses-- the family I nanny for totally have a house like that. It legit looks like NO ONE lives there. It makes me so uncomfortable sometimes because if the kids make a mess, I always rush to clean it up. Just totally not normal!

I've felt like not blogging before too, so I feel you.

Ugh, I HATE putting away laundry! But, I think I'd have to say I hate folding it even more. It takes forever!

Putting away laundry....AMEN. That can be such a pain! I wish I had birds or fairy tale creatures that would do it for me...

Making my bed (which I totes don't do) but I mean it's pointless. I'm just making it so that later that night I can unmake it to go to bed. Doesn't make sense.

Girl- I'm right there with you on styling my hair. I hate doing it- so much.

And same with putting away laundry. Why is that last step the hardest?? my folded laundry will sit in my basket for like a week before I finally get around to it!

THE CAR THING. YES THE CAR THING. I never have a clean car...like EVER. And if you wore your hair in a pony every day I wouldn't judge you. Promise.

i think we often apologize for thing we don't need to and that's dumb. we shouldn't be sorry for things that just makes us feel guilty for no reason.

Count me in on the styling your hair and clean car. I try to keep my car clean and I just never keep it for longer than a few days.

I am with you 1000% on putting laundry away. I really thought I was the only one, so I'm glad to know I'm not alone :)

I agree with all of these!! I wish my friends would stop cleaning their houses when they have guests over so I would stop feeling the need to clean MY house when I have guests over.

All good points, girl.
We spend a lot of energy making things look 'just so' when we could be making mud pies and catching fireflies... I think it's our grown-up-ness that's ruining us. ;)

i feel you on doing my hair. i'm becoming much better about just letting it go messy/wild/jungle woman and then just apologizing for my messy self when i run into people :) saves time and usually gets a smile.. :)
