I know all of you are just dying to know what I've been up to since my last blog post, over three months ago. I'm sure you're all thinking I must be spending my time doing all the fun things. Well, the truth of it is that I have been doing a whole lot of nothing. A whole lot of the same old thing, day in and day out. A whole lot of working, going to the gym, coming home and watching TV and eating dinner with my husband. Nothing really extraordinary, but there have been some things worth noting, and I do miss this little space from time to time, so here I am. And here's what's been going on with me:
My mom still has cancer. It sucks, and for anyone who has a family member or who has been diagnosed themselves, I'm praying for you. Cancer is the worst, and there's really not much else to say about it other than it's the worst.
We went to Las Vegas. It was awesome. I didn't really take a lot of pictures because I was too busy having fun. There was a lot of walking, a lot of drinking, a little gambling, some poolside action, and of course a Cirque show. I'm already planning our next trip.
I'm still reading the heck out of some books. I finished the Outlander series (currently awaiting the next book!), read some fluff books, some sad books, some funny books, and now I'm starting the fourth book in the Song of Ice and Fire series (aka Game of Thrones) along with binging on the TV show version.
Eight of my friends have had babies in the last 2 months. EIGHT. My mom keeps hinting about grandchildren and my mother in law loves to mention how we're going to need to fill all the rooms in our house and my grandmother in law said something about wishing she could be a great-grandmother. So all of that makes me feel like my life is right on track because we definitely aren't planning on birthing any children anytime soon.
We celebrated our first wedding anniversary by hosting a pumpkin carving party. Best decision ever because I haven't carved a pumpkin in who knows how long. Nevermind that they started growing mold and didn't last until Halloween.
Aren't they awesome? You can check out more of her work on her Instagram page!
We bought a house. Or rather, we're buying a house. Our closing was actually scheduled for today but due to some unforseen circumstances, we will be closing some time next week. We're currently in the throes of packing and moving furniture, which is always a fun test on a marriage.
A few parts of the new house need a little TLC from us - and by "a little TLC" I mean we are painting bedrooms, refinishing an entire kitchen, totally updating a fireplace, ripping out tile from two bathrooms, and more.
It's going to be tons of fun and I really want a place where I can keep up with my progress and look back to see how much has changed as we make updates.
Oh, did I mention that we're throwing a Christmas party in our new home two weeks after move-in? Yeah it should be a blast.
Until next time (and who really knows when that will be),

Congratulations on your new home and good luck on the TLC you'll be giving it! Our kitchen is also on the "overhaul" list, so I hope you'll share your choices and progress once you get into that one :)
