Academy Awards 2013

I can't tell you how much I love Awards Season. All of the pretty gowns, emotions when someone wins, and performances are so much fun to watch. Unfortunately I've had to work during every single one this year, including the Academy Awards. But that's okay, I was able to catch bits and pieces throughout the night, and of course catch up on the interwebz. Firstly, I was stoked that both of my favorite actresses walked away with little gold men. Anne Hathaway with Best Actress in a Supporting Role for her role in Les Miserables and Jennifer Lawrence winning Best Actress in a Leading Role for Silver Linings Playbook (which I have yet to see) super snaps to them. Not to mention the performance by the cast of  Les Miserables absolutely took my breath away and gave me chills all over(if you can't tell I may be a little obsessed with this movie).

And now on to the more important part, best and worst dressed!

 

BEST

Stacy Keibler in Naaem Khan

Have I mentioned that I'm completely obsessed with studs? No? Okay well now you know. And homegirl rocked this studded gown like a champ. The fit is absolutely perfect and flattering, and the belt gives just the right amount of definition to her waist. I love that she paired it with a soft retro bob and not too much makeup.

 

Charlize Theron in Dior

I have always been a fan of Charlize ever since I first saw Mighty Joe Young. This white peplum gown is absolutely stunning. I love it when stars wear white. You can hardly ever go wrong and it stands out so much, you don't need crazy hair or accessories. She made all the right choices going sans necklace and a nice smoky eye. Also I absolutely love her hair cut. If I was brave enough I'd cut mine like it.

 

Jennifer Lawrence in Dior

I just want to give JLaw a fist bump because she definitely made up for her gown at the SAG Awards, but bless her heart she just can't keep from embarrassing herself. First her gown rips at the SAGs then she falls up the steps on her way to accept the Oscar. But her awkwardness just makes me love her more.

 

Sandra Bullock in Elie Saab

Another one of my favorite Actresses decided to show a little skin with this sexy lace gown. It fit to the T and she didn't over do it with the hair or accessories. I really don't have anything negative to say about this whole ensemble. You go Glen Coco!

 

Adele in Jenny Packham

Thank the lort that Adele went back to her classic black dress look. Cause that floral ish was just not workin' for her or me or anyone else, I'm sure. I think this beaded gown would have looked much better with a V neck but I can't complain because everything else is fab. I would have changed the hair, since it's a little to Briget Bardot for me. And snaps to Adele for winning Best Song for Skyfall (which was an awesome move, btw).

 

 

WORST

Nancy O'dell in Mark Zunino

Girl, are you trying to become Vana White's replacement? I don't know why you bother because she ain't goin' anywhere anytime soon. I really don't even think Vana would wear this. Its just too... blue. and too tight and too Miss America from the hair to the earrings to the shoes.

 

Anne Hathaway in Prada

Are her nipples really that pointy or did she borrow this dress from Madonna? Really Anne, you should have invested in some double-sided tape to keep that side boob in place too. And the chunky necklace with that neck line has got to go. I will admit that her hair and makeup look excellent and I do like the color of this dress, but only that. I would have chosen her performance dress over this one.

 

Reese Witherspoon in Louis Vuitton

This gown is a gorgeous color, but to me ther was just something off about the fit that made Reese look frumpy. And that bow. So awkward. I will say, however, that her hair and make up are hot to trot. I'm digging the sideswept curls that is so popular right now.

Naomi Watts in Armani

I really wanted to put this on my best dressed list but the weird shoulder straps kept me from doing so. I love the color, sparkles, hair, and makeup but I just wish the left (her right) side matched the other (making it a deep sweetheart neckline) and everything would be great.

 

 

WORST CLEAVAGE

Brandi Glanville in a gown she designed

I almost didn't want to post this picture because I try to keep it PG-13 around her and this gown is almost Rated R. This gown is all wrong in all the wrong places. Obviously there's the cleavage issue, I mean, she couldn't have been able to move very much without one of her lady lumps popping out. Then there's the ruffles (fur?) at the bottom. I don't even know what to say about that. And the color. So not a pretty nude. Cute shoes tho.

 

 

BEST CLEAVAGE

Samantha Barks in Valentino

This is the correct way to show off the girls. I love everything about this look. As I've said before, black gowns are my favorite and this one doesn't disappoint. I love that she paired it with a golden sun necklace to make the look more young and fun. Her natural make up look and swept back hair are absolutely perfect. As was her performance with the rest of the Les Miserables cast.

 

 

CUTEST COUPLE

Channing and Jenna Dewan-Tatum

Obviously her best accessory was Channing and their baby bump. She was glowing and dressed to the nines in this black and nude lace dress and Channing already had the Proud Papa look going on. I just couldn't get over how absolutely adorable they were. And I can't wait for Baby Tatum's arrival.
