I'm a bad, bad blogger

Remember that time when I wished something exciting would happen in my life so I would have some good blogging content? Well something exciting happened, and I'm still a terrible blogger. So I'm going to "update" you all and confess a few things, since it's been waayyyy to loong since I've done that.

.....I had a conversation with my mom and a friend about passing gas (aka farting) and it really grosses them out and their bodies were somehow blessed by the hand of God Himself because they just don't "have to do it" and I'm over here like, excuse me while I roll down the window because I have to fart at least 10 times a day.

...When we chose the date for our wedding, we had exactly 64 days to plan. As of today there are 59 days until my wedding. Yes, you read that right. FIFTY NINE DAYS. Surprisingly, I don't feel too overwhelmed (yet) and I actually feel like I have most of the important stuff accomplished. I've booked the venue, talked to my coordinator/catorer, bought a dress + had it fitted, ordered wedding shoes, picked my bridesmaids, chose a wedding hashtag (#ParkerShenanigans14) and scheduled my bachelorette party (<---- most important).

...Trying on wedding dresses was HELL. I don't see how people think this is fun. I probably put 25-30 dresses on, even though I found the dress I wanted somewhere in the middle. There's just something about knowing that there are so many more options out there, you feel like you have to make sure there isn't a better one. Everyone kept saying "ooohh that looks SO GOOD on you" and I just wanted to be like "everything looks good on me because I'm an effing beauty queen" but I held my tongue.

....I'm writing this instead of running/biking like I am supposed to be. Whoops.

...I told a co-worker that I would make two pecan pies for another coworker's going away party and I really don't want to and I'm debating on just buying some from the store and hoping no one would tell the difference.

...my future MIL keeps adding to my guest list. The guest list that is already 17 people over the maximum amount of people I said I wanted it. Every time I get a text that says "Oh I forgot about so and so" a fit of rage comes over me and I nearly break/throw whatever is in my hand at the time.

...I don't have any pictures for you because the only pictures I have are wedding related (my dress and my venue) and I'm not ready to share those just yet.

Have you ever planned a wedding in 8 weeks, do you have any tips or tricks?

It's HUMPDAAAYYY

Vodka and Soda

I don't even know what to do with myself, blogging for the third day in a row (even though the past two days I was using prompts) I'm pretty proud of myself.

I confess...

...I kinda feel weird about posting gym/workout related selfies on instagram, like I feel that people are judging me. But then I also think "I really don't give a shit" and I post anyway. Some people probably think that I'm just doing it for attention, and in a way, I am. I mean, isn't everyone that posts anything on instagram just looking for some likes and cool comments? If you say you're not then you're a lying liar that lies. So what if people get annoyed by it because...

...I can't stand when people make up their own hashtags and they're the only one to use them (i.e. for their child, dog, etc). It doesn't bother me when people do it for weddings because that's basically what a hashtag is for... to be able to see what other people are posting with the same tag. But whatever.

...I got some REALLY FREAKING AWESOME news at work yesterday except I'm not allowed to talk about it because nothing is "official" yet and I'm supposed to keep everything "confidential" until it is such. So really this isn't a confession, more of a tease, but I'm freaking bursting at the seams here.

...I keep thinking Derek is going to propose literally any second... and then he doesn't. I really am trying hard not to be annoying about it but when you say certain things and drop certain hints, it kind of gets a girl's heart strings all twisted and hopeful.

...Sometimes I ignore phone calls from friends that I know are going to talk a long time on the phone when I'm  having a lazy day at home. Even if it's been a long time since we talked and even if I do want to talk to them. If I'm laying on the couch watching Harry Potter and the Prisoner of Azkaban for the eight hundredth time, you can bet you'll get forwarded to voicemail. Sorry, not sorry.

...I really (really really) want a kitten. So bad I can almost taste it. But then I remember that I have a cat (and dog) that are currently living with my mom and I feel guilty because it would be like replacing them. But I really really want a sweet baby kitty.

...I am counting the minutes until Friday afternoon when I get to go visit my parents and my Aunt/Uncle who are in town and I haven't seen in over a year! This will be the first time Derek meets them and I can honestly say I'm really looking forward to it.

Humpday Confessions

It's humpday (or cameltoe day as one of my coworkers mistakenly called it once) so that means it's time for some confessions.

Linking up with Kath.

Vodka and Soda

- I went to The Wizarding World of Harry Potter last week and to be honest, I was a little disappointed. More on that tomorrow.

- It really annoys me/pisses me off when people get more recognition than me for doing the exact same thing because it was "harder" or a "struggle" for them.

- Sometimes I have really weird dreams that make me feel very guilty in the morning. Not those kind of dreams guys. But still dreams where I do/feel/decide something that probably isn't the best and then I wake up feeling really guilty. It's like those dreams where your significant other cheats on you and then you wake up irrationally pissed off at them because of what they did in your dream, except kind of different. The only reason it worries me is because dreams are supposed to represent your subconscious or something like that.

- I am addicted to online shopping. I feel like that isn't really a big surprise, nor that I am alone in the world, but I just wanted to put it out there.

- I turned in a letter of interest at work today for a new position and I'm honestly scared shitless about it.

- I did this workout yesterday and now I hurt all over. But in a good way that makes me proud of what I can do. I didn't time myself, but I kind of wish I would have because I'm pretty sure I killed it.

- I bought bright blue workout pants (yoga pants?). There's a first time for everything, right?

- I (not so) secretly kind of enjoy when Derek stays with his parents because I get to sprawl across the bed and stay up reading as late as I want. Which usually still ends up being before 10 p.m. PS: I'm currently reading Let's Pretend This Never Happened (A Mostly True Memoir), by Jenny Lawson and it is freaking hilarious. Like literally laugh out loud, I'm-glad-I'm-already-on-the-toilet-or-else-I'd-pee-in-my-pants funny. Read it now.

- And last but not least, something I've never mentioned on the blog before but why not now, since it's Humpday Confessions and all that: I am obsessed really enjoy popping other people's bacne. I know it seems gross but it further instills my belief that I was meant to be a nurse, because what other kind of sane person would enjoy squeezing puss or whatever other gross stuff accumulates in the pores of other people's backs?

Breaking the rules

It's humpday. It's after one in the afternoon and I'm writing a blog post and I don't care if it's breaking any rules.

I confess...

+ Graduating and having to find a new job scares the shit out of me. Sure, the making more money part will be nice, but the fact that I'll have a new title with new responsibilities, and possibly new co-workers and new bosses is absolutely terrifying.

+ I didn't have to work or go to school yesterday or today and even though I say I'm going to be "productive" most of my time has been spent catching up on blogging, basking in the sun, and reading Harry Potter and the Sorcerers Stone.

+ I told myself I would wait to start HP from the beginning until after I finished school, but I'm three weeks early and I don't even care because I love it so much. Also, senioritis.

+ I still haven't gotten internet at my apartment yet and I still have to go to Panera Bread or Starbucks almost daily to get stuff done. At first it was a nuisance but now I kind of like it.

+ I am kind of a little bit dreading our upcoming vacation to central Florida. Sure, the vacation part will be nice, but I'll be spending 9 whole days with Derek's entire family (most of whom I've never met) and I"m sure we'll be doing lots of fun things, but my ideal vacation is an unplanned, unstructured, do-whatever-the-hell-I-want kind of vacation. Hopefully it won't be bad.

+ I can't stop looking at my pretty new design page.

+ I'm trying a new workout class today (yoga for athletes) and I'm a little worried I'm going to make an ass out of myself.

+ I am still looking at the #engagement pictures on Instagram. Because, obviously, I am not #engaged yet. Is there someone I can talk to about this? Like professionally?

Go share your humpday confessions with Kathy from Vodka and Soda!

Its HUMPDAAAYY

Let's just get right in to this confesh-sesh, shall we?

Confession #1: Lately I have not had the motivation to blog (obviously) and it really isn't bothering me. Not even a little bit. At first, when my blogging started to slow due to work and school responsibilities and all the time that entails, I thought I would be more upset and worried about it. I'm not. I know that my blogging "friends" are still around and will still continue to read my blog regardless of if I post five or only one time a week.
Confession #2: Sort of in correspondence with the previous confession, because I have senioritis. I have exactly three weeks until I'm done with school FOR GOOD (just kidding - there's still grad school) but with my impending graduation, I have become so lax with my school responsibilities. Not enough to make me absolutely hate my life but just enough to get by (with decent grades).
Confession #3: It makes me happier than a bird with a french fry that I can now do this:

It's been something I've been working on for a few weeks now and I can finally do it and HOLD the headstand for a good 20 seconds. I don't formally practice yoga (with an instructor) but it's something I'm definitely interested in and will probably pursue after graduation. When I have more time. And money.
Confession #4: I am being responsible with my income tax return and paying my rent for the next few months and putting the rest in savings. I feel like I should be proud of myself for this but it really just makes me sad that I'm not going on a crazy shopping spree.
Confession 5: I have been so close to throwing my computer against the wall over the past few days because it is actin' a FOOL. My sincerest apologies to anyone whose blog design I am working on.... There will be a little bit of a delay until I can figure out what the problem is!

Humpday confessions

So I have seen a few posts (okay a lot more than a few) floating around on Wednesdays where people link up with one of the coolest bloggers, Kathy from Vodka and Soda, and confess all the things that need confessing. It's like (Catholic) confession... but for bloggers. Or something. So here goes nothing:

Confession #1: This is a bad one, and I'm a little ashamed to admit it, but the first step to recovery is admitting you have a problem, right? ....  I stalk the #engaged hashtag on instagram. For some reason I can't make myself stop scrolling threw the hundreds of "he put a ring on it" and "I said yes!" posts that litter the hashtag (there are also a surprising amount of "body wrap" posts and progress pictures, but I don't get it). I don't know if it's because I'm very close to getting engaged myself or if it's because I just love reading engagement/proposal stories. We'll just go with the latter, okay?

Confession #2: Recently there has been a trend of girls posting pictures of themselves bare faced and without makeup and I just find it a little ridiculous (I'm not even going to mention #cockinasock). To me, all you're doing is showing a picture of your face as it naturally looks, which is all fine, but I just don't understand how it's "raising" breast cancer awareness. To me, a better way to support breast cancer research and raise awareness is to donate directly to a research group (like Susan G. Komen) or participate in a charity run/walk.

Besides, I was posting no makeup selfies before it was cool.

Confession #3: I recently started washing my hair every other day (from every day) and I'm loving it more and more. To keep it short and sweet, it's saving me time in the mornings and money on hair product I have to use. I've also enjoyed finding and trying new hairstyles for my "dirty" hair. I may do a more in depth post about it later if anyone's interested in my transition/progress.

One of my favorite "dirty hair" hair styles! Also a great shot of my resting bitch face.

After about a week, I was able to wear my hair down on a "dirty" day.

Confession #4: Several weeks ago I made a commitment to start a clean eating journey. I won't say I've failed completely, but I'm not doing well at all (see picture below). So I've been perusing some health and fitness Instagram accounts and finding some fun recipies to try in the next few weeks, because as it turns out, I have a mean sweet tooth. When I moved in to my apartment all clean eating went down the drain but over the last week or two I've been prepping and trying not to eat out as much. And when I do eat out I try to eat pretty healthy (chicken salad and broccoli salad, yum!).

It may not have been on the diet plan, but it was AMAZING. Yes that is a massive pile of ice cream sandwiched between two brownies with roasted marshmallows on top. Hashtag worth it.

I hope you read this in your best Usher voice

-I can't stand it when people live tweet the Bachelor. Or awards shows. Really any kind of live tweeting (except when Juliette did Harry Potter - that was okay). It makes me want to unfollow you on twitter but I'm a nice person so I don't.

-I'm writing this post while I'm supposed to be studying/writing a paper. For some reason my blog writing skills are at their highest point while I'm supposed to be doing something else important.

-I don't recycle. I don't really have an explanation for this one and I don't really know if it makes me a terrible person or not. It's not that I'm against it, I just never think about it.
-Sometimes I would rather not hang out with my boyfriend. Like when I wan to paint my nails or write a blog post or read a book or drink wine and watch countless episodes of New Girl. He can really ruin those moments.

-I live with my boyfriend's parents and the part I hate about it most is their dog. It's a pomeranian and it never. shuts. up. It is the only dog I've ever wanted to physically harm (don't worry I haven't) .
It really makes me miss my sweet Piper girl, who loves to cuddle and rarely barks.

-Sometimes I give myself a minor panic attack wondering how many people in my real life read my blog that I don't know about. I mean, I know most of my family reads it but what about people from high school? Or heaven forbid, from work? Not that I've ever said anything negative about work but I just don't want people snooping.

-I tell Derek that it's okay, I'm not in a rush to get married right away, when in reality I want to be married to him yesterday. I try to be passive about it but sometimes I slip up and we get into an argument about not being engaged yet and I feel like that awful, naggy girlfriend that gives ultimatums and no one likes her because of it. I know he wants to marry me and he wants to ask me "in his own time" but sometimes I'm like, WHY HAVEN'T YOU ASKED ME YET??

-I really really enjoy catching someone check me out - at the gym, at work, wherever - some people get creeped out or offended but I like to think of it as a compliment. As long as the person doesn't touch me or say something disgusting, I'm okay with it.

Do you do any of these things?
(Please tell me I'm not alone!)
